Artists have long been inspired by the water in all its aspects. This selection of paintings reflects this obsession, and includes paintings by artists such as Arthur Boyd, Ray Crooke, Sir William Dobell and William Ashton.
The pristine beauty of the Australian landscape is captured by William Boissevain in his 'River Landscape' and Peter Kingston's evocative harbour scene 'Nic's Ferry' reflects his love of the rich beauty of Sydney Harbour, which has drawn so many artists over the years. These are just a selection of the artworks from our stockroom which represent so many artists attraction to capturing waterways and the sea.
Other famous natural wonders such as Venice and St Ives, areas which have both attracted many artists to capture their beauty, are also featured here in works by Malcolm Carver, of 'Santa Maria Dela Salute', and Charles Bryant's 'The Lighthouse, St. Ives'. |
